Update 19.05.2009

Well the deed is done and my hair has now been pink for over two months!, almost feels normal now.

Looks like it’s going to stay for the summer now – longer its pink the more I will be able to raise.

The total raised is now somewhere between £4500 and £4700 not exactly sure and the collections tins have to remain sealed. A big thank you to all who donated your donations are very much appreciated.

A few people need a special mention –

Luke and Lewis for constructing and maintaining the site

Anna and Leah for making a complete show of themselves and dressing up as Pink Panther at the Races and spending most of the day shaking collection tins – see photo page!!

Caroline and Mike at HO & CO for their ongoing donations of time and hair dye.

Thanks Again

Welcome

After an evening drinking a well known German lager, my friend and neighbour Nick Crisp suggested he could get together £500 in sponsorship if I agreed to have my head shaved.

Being over 40 and still having a fair amount of hair, I'm pretty keen on keeping it and therefore refused the offer!

The second time the conversation came up (again the same well know German lager was involved, I'll name it if they pay up £500 sponsorship!)I decided that rather than cutting my hair I would be prepared to colour it pink and have it braided. The braiding is to save my West Indian cricket team mates the bother of doing it as promised at the end of the season.

I have set a target of raising a total of £10,000 for three very worthy charities - Breakthrough Breast Cancer, We Are Macmillan and Cancer Research UK. Please give generously because cancer affects us all to greater or lesser degree. Please click on the donate tab to see the variety of ways you can pledge support.

I will commit to keeping my hair pink for a minimum of three months, the braiding may be a bit more tricky.

IT allowing, we are planning to stream the event live on the site. This will be down to the IT nerds Lewis Wilkins and Luke Zbihlyj who are donating their time free of charge (well Lewis had no choice - help or be homeless!). If not the new look will be unveiled at Chepstow Races on the 7th March 2009 (Tickets available - contact Anna). Pictures will be posted after the event.

Dig deep and thanks for your support!

Matthew Wilkins
